Marina Dobic is a distinguished nail artist, renowned for her meticulous preparation, precise application, and innovative techniques. She has worked with actress Zendaya, who personally reached out after discovering Marina’s online portfolio. One of her most distinctive creations was Zendaya’s now-iconic summer garden manicure, featuring intricate floral patterns and delicate tiny bees.
Marina’s expertise and artistic vision have been showcased in leading beauty publications, including Allure and Marie Claire, solidifying her influence and reputation in the beauty world.
Beyond her client work, Marina is deeply committed to education within the nail industry. She offers both online and in-person training courses designed to elevate the skills of fellow nail technicians.
One of the main focuses of Marina’s teachings is comfort. Marina promotes comfort as one of the fundamental elements of a manicure. In Marina’s view comfort is a compilation of intricate details bound together to create a beautiful process for both client and manicurist. Comfortable chairs and an appropriate table height as well as good lighting all contribute to the process. Marina emphasises the importance of good tools that support the manicurits performance.
Marina praises Manicure Project brushes for their effortless usability and ease of maintenance, highlighting how they elevate the comfort of her own practice. “These brushes elevate our comfort, create correct brushing methods and help maintain the health of our precious wrists,” she shares. Marina adores the beautiful accent our brushes bring to her refined setup, and all her clients take notice of them and their aesthetic nature.
Marina shares valuable insight into the finishing touch of her manicure, a method she has used from the beginning of her career and one she refuses to forgo. After the final cure, Marina files the free edge of the nail to remove the thin tip and reach a thicker, more supportive point of the product. This technique not only strengthens the nail but also enhances the durability of the manicure, preventing lifting and ensuring a flawless result.
"This method is suited to any product application with an apex, whether it is soft or hard structured gels," Marina elaborates. "To achieve this, file 2mm of the free edge at the end of the treatment. Use the same filing method as you would for natural nails. The file should be fine, no less than 240 grit, and finish with a buffer. Be sure to do this carefully to avoid scratching the surface. Using your Manicure Project brush can provide clarity of view when shaping and allows for smooth handling of the file, helping avoid any mishaps during this delicate part of the manicure."
